March 2014 - An Easier Trail

Having learned that a walk up a "ghyll" was more than just a moderately difficult walk, we decided to try a different strategy the next day.  We headed out for an "easy valley walk" through the "low close gardens."  We liked the sound of "valley," "low," and "garden."  It was a lovely walk, but not without challenges!

Getting ready for an "easy" walk.  Surprisingly no one is sore from the previous day, so perhaps gymnastics and cross fit have done us some good!
Climbing over the stile to start our path.

A gorgeous ramble through the woods.  Hints of Narnia and Tolkien everywhere we turned.

Beautiful  old stone walls.

The last bit was a bit hilly, up over the ridge of a low fell and down.  The challenge was really the dampness of the rain and snow melt, trying not to slip and slide down the hill!  We witnessed another group of walkers take quite a fall.

Hot chocolate and "chips" at the Britannia Inn at the bottom of the trail.  Yum.
