February 2014

Donnie was promoted to Captain in January.  As a surprise, one of his British colleagues secretly arranged for him to renew his oath at the Churchill War Rooms.  These rooms were the location of Churchill's meetings during the Battle of Britain.  They were sealed after the war, and only recently re-opened.  All of the furnishings, maps, wall paint, etc, are untouched since WWII.

We were allowed exclusive use of the Cabinet Room, which is usually sealed off from visitors.  Abby was invited to rub the arms of the chair where Churchill wore grooves in the wood clutching it under tension.

The volcano and earthquake exhibit reopened at the Natural History Museum.

Donnie's school hosted a "Burn's Night" formal dinner where we celebrated the life and works of the poet Robert Burns.  We ate haggis, read poetry, and danced traditional Scottish dances.  It was pretty hilarious!

Yum, haggis!  It was actually quite good.

More fun at some of London's amazing parks.
